Whats cooking sweetie?

Thanks for stopping by Goodwill Designs and joining me on my creative journey to make each day a little brighter through humor, love and crafting.  I love the joy I get from creating something with my own two hands to for someone else. When I can throw in my own twisted sense of humor along the way all the more fun.  It is so easy to get wrapped up in the everyday: the stress, the worries, the endless to do lists that I don't always set aside enough time to just create.  This blog has been an idea of mine for sometime to be honest, but I am making a new commitment to myself to create more and worry less. I hope you this blog and the projects and tutorials to come provide you with as much joy as they have given me to create.

As I have mentioned earlier, I have let life distract me for awhile. So the first project is a half finished one. One that I promise to finish and to show you the end results. I had the idea to do a series of aprons with different images printed on them that capture my sense of humor and quirky style. I found plain white vintage style aprons on clearance at Michael's (can't bet $2 an apron) and decided to have some fun. Since one of my favorite movies is the Silence of the Lambs and the fact that sometimes I can be a complete horror in the kitchen I thought why not marry the two into one.

First I created a stencil of Hannibal Lector using my silhouette cameo and cut it out of freezer paper.
(I will create a post in the future on how to do this, I promise! It is one of my favorite tricks)

After the stencil was cut I used black fabric paint to stencil him onto the top of the apron and cut another stencil for "Got humans?" to stencil in red on the pocket.

I am really pleased with how the apron is turning out. I have purchased some trim to sew onto the apron because I feel its missing something along the bottom. I am still trying to decide if I also want to add a few images of moths on it as well.  It is a work in progress. I will post more pictures once it is done.

For now I think it is time I sign off of the computer and go tackle the dishes soaking in the sink from tonights "attempt" at cooking.
